More Music Industry News: L.A. Reid, Facebook Humor, MySpace, East Village Radio, Eventbrite

Hypebot Favicon(UPDATED) Yesterday's most tweeted and read story on Hypebot was the launch of the almost certainly illegal download site Mulve. It seems to me that the interest in Mulve is further proof that labels need to stop playing whack-a-mole with illegal downloaders and instead champion streaming sites like Spotify, MOG, Pandora, Slacker, Thumblay, Rdio and others.  It's founder Daniel Ek recently sat for a Wall Street Journal interview that's very much worth reading. I also learned yesterday that Daniel has joined Ted Cohen, Harvey Goldmsith, Terry McBride, Ralph Simon and yours truely on the MidemNet advisory board.

  • L.A. Reid has not left the building: Despite rumors, the Chairman/CEO of Island Def Jam Music Group still has his job but is being courted as a judge for the upcoming U.S. version of the TV talent show, The X-Factor. (FMQB)
