MTT: Alternative Ways to Create A Career In Music

Jonathan Ostrow (@miccontrol), the cofounder of MicControl, has written a post about the different ways to create a sustainable career in music. With the changes in the music industry, many artists must figure out how to maintain a career. Musicians can find great opportunities in various areas such as: music licensing, live performance, music production, freelance music journalism, and many more.

I found the career as a professional page turner quite amusing. Page turners can actually make money by reading music and turning the pages of sheet music at the right time. Being a ghost songwriter may prove to be tremendously rewarding as in the case of Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta also known as Lady Gaga.

She used to write songs for Britney Spears and is now one of the most successful pop stars. Musicians have a myriad of choices that can be combined into a revenue stream to make a sustainable music career.
