Connect Or Die: How Artists Succeed In Music 2.0

image from www.dx.org This presentation is a little dated. However, the message is meaningful and still relevant. It's things you've heard before. They're just packed better. Does the presentation have a good point or are outsiders barking up the wrong tree? If you'd like to hear this ad agency's thoughts on the music business, Hypebot will pursue an interview with their team. Take a look:

  1. Is it so interesting in hearing about the same 4-5 artists in every “this-is-how-the-music-business-is-now” article?
Not all artist can freely give away albums for promotion of an tour (which is said by a man from Live Nation…. hmmm)…

  2. @Musik123: there are mentioned, because they are the biggest ones doing it. Smaller bands/groups do the same and with success. Check out the Shpongle case-study on my blog for instance.
Anyway, what I was really going to say that it’s a beautiful presentation. Wish I had such skills ^_^

  3. This presentation is simply illustrating the shift in the business. In the 90’s it was, “Not every artist can tour to sell albums.” And the response was,”then those artists better find another way to make money.” Now the opposite is true, but the response remains the same. If you can’t afford to give away at least some of your recordings, then it’s probably a time for a career change.
