Play.FM Goes Mobile – Listen To DJ Sets Anywhere

image from s2.appbrain.com Play.FM hosts thousands professionally produced DJ sets, giving users a dedicated place to listen to club music.

The company has released apps for iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone 7. With the apps, users can listen to top-ranked DJs from over 180 countries; access live mixes recorded in clubs, at festivals, and radio shows; and share mixes with friends on Facebook and Twitter. The app costs about $4, but that only includes 90 days of unlimited listening.

Once that time expires, users only get 5 hours free per month. Beyond that point, you'll have to get a premium subscription at a cost that hasn't been disclosed.

The company's premium service won't launch until the second quarter of 2011.

Georg Hitzenberger, founder of Play.fm., predicts that, "Cloud Music, i.e., the consumption of music hosted on dedicated streaming servers, is the future of the music business. One can assume that smartphones will play a major role there."

Currently, around 150,000 users per month are streaming music from the Play.fm collection. The company expects that number to grow as their app catches on.

We'll see. Take a look:
