The 5 Stages of Grief – A Tale of Major Label Decline
This TEDx Talk gives an overview of the decline of the major labels through the lens of the five stages of grief. The lecture is a little dated, as it came out in August of 2009. But the content is great. Jeremy Silver, a digital media thought-leader and blogger, gives a very thoughtful take on the digital revolution and the decline in sales of recorded music. It's like a refresher course, we all know the story and have read through it several times, but this is a nice, condensed version of it. It's worth the watch. Take a look:
this whole thing is a little ridiculous – had to turn it off when he said “myspace is now probably one of the most important websites for music”
what year was this?
This is what happens when a bunch of old people rule the world.
LOL.. I’d say old people that think they know more than they really do. Sadly, I know some young people like that too.
Wow. I’ve been saying this for a while but the music industry vets need to learn to adapt and not be so stubborn in their ways. I know the old model worked for a long time but … have you looked at your p & l lately?! They need to listen to the “young” people …. who are their consumers btw AND do their research by reading more websites like this one 🙂
