AARP Says Old People Are Online Too! PS: These Are The People Still Willing To Pay For Music

image from nonprofity.com The American Association Of Retired Persons (AARP) has created a short video to remind us (and advertisers) that those 55 years old and over are online too.

In fact, those 65 and older makeup the fastest growing age group on Facebook which, according to the AARP, totalled more than 65 million on the social network as of May 2010. This is a huge and underutilized opportunity for music marketers. And older music lovers are far more likely to click the buy button than to take the time to find music free elsewhere online.  Watch the video:

  1. Please give a listen to the tunes in the “Night Songs for Seniors” growing collection of original “pop” music of special interest to those born before 1940. It’s music written and performed by septuagenarians especially for the senior set. The website is organized so that you can: (1) audit the songs from a playlist, (2) audit the songs while you read their lyrics from an embeded YouTube playlist, and/or (3) download a free MP3 file of any Night Song you like. Happy listening! Here’s where you can find the first 6 Night Songs: http://home.comcast.net/~tjcw/
