Chart: A Look At How Facebook Is Growing Compared To Google & Other Internet Leaders

But this charts shows how a surge in the social network's traffic, as measured by time spent, is dwarfing even the usual internet leaders like the family of sites controlled by Google, AOL, Microsoft and a falling Yahoo.

  1. It would be interesting to know what changes have been made on i.e. Facebook when the dips and lows occurred.

  2. Also, I wonder how ‘time spent’ is measured – I mean, how many people have Facebook open in the background at work? It’s very easy to open a new tab anymore, and be connected all day, but only check it once or twice. Also, does that take into account the smart phone apps that continually stream Facebook feeds? Interesting graph, but in my opinion not nearly enough is provided about how these numbers were reached to be informative.
