MySpace Music President Courtney Holt Exits plus CEO Mike Jones’ Memo To Staff

image from cdn.venturebeat.com Courtney Holt is leaving his post as president of MySpace Music after two years, reportedly over differences with MySpace CEO Mike Jones over the direction that Jones is taking the site.  Holt is moving to a post as a consultant with MySpace owner News Corp's digital division and will remain on the MySpace board.

More plus MySpace CEO's Memo To Staff:

Former MTV executive Holt was popular within the industry and his voluntary move will make any MySpace Renaissance that much more difficult. CEO Jones will now add Holt's title to his portfolio; and given that MySpace is up for sale, seems unlikely to seek a replacement. News Corp recently hired Allen & Co. to find a buyer for the social networking site.

Here is the text of MySpace CEO Mike Jone's memo to staff via the Hollywood Reporter:

"I wanted to let everyone know that Courtney Holt's role in the company will soon be changing. Over the next several weeks, he will be moving from being the President of Myspace Music to becoming a key advisor to both Myspace and Newscorp. Courtney will provide guidance on the strategic direction of Myspace Music and lend his incredible depth of experience, industry expertise and creativity to Myspace and Myspace Music. Additionally, Courtney will continue to serve on the board of Myspace Music.

"Sam Wick will now oversee all of marketing for Myspace and operationally I will be taking over as the interim president of Myspace Music."
