Tw1tterband! 11 Strangers Create Music Via Twitter
Meet this band, and not just any band: Tw1tterband!
They formed over Twitter. Have never met. And have recorded a cover or two. Devotee Richard Newman wanted to celebrate two years of being on Twitter and decided to leverage the social tool to start a group.
Unexpectedly, Newman lost his job. Then he found himself devoting all this time into Tw1tterband rather than dwelling on his misfortune and the job market.
Tw1tterband has since released a cover and raised £2,220 for Macmillan Cancer Support. As the Guardian succinctly put it, the story behind the group is probably more interesting than their music, but the project serves as "a fine advert for Twitter's ability to forge a real sense of shared experience among strangers."

This is a very cool idea. In fact, there are dozens upon dozens of YouTube artists that have been doing the very same thing for quite some time.
