Today Is Record Store Day. Turn Off Your Computer And Go Buy Something.

image from recordstoreday.com “Independent record stores are much more than the name suggests. They are an international community and platform where music has an outlet and an opportunity to grow over the long term, in a way that sincerely connects with community and culture. They are also a magnificent mob of highly opinionated musical bandits…" – Ben Harper

  1. Sad there are no comments here. The more we listen to(and follow) techies/IT experts talking about what our future of music should look like (free, like water from the tap etc etc) and the less we listen to people who truly dedicate their lives to music (ie record shop owners) – the lower the importance of our art will be, the less people will know/care. The human connection cannot be duplicated. Indie record shops are cornerstones of every community. For people scouring bit-torrent sites and using itunes, when your kids asked you what happened to music, you can look yourselves in the mirror, you are to blame. : )
