Facebook Dominates People’s Time. Google+ Hopes To Bring Them Back [CHART]

image from www.google.com New comScore data shows data show just how much more time is spent on Facebook versus Google by users in the U.S..

In fairness, Google sends people away from its search engine but the stats show much time people spend Facebook is, and  that time that Google wants to win back with its new social product Google+.

  1. There’s one that exists MUCH greater than Google+ and Facebook. Who? OnlyMeWorld. Don’t let the name throw you off; it has the potential to be bigger than the above-mentioned. Why? With all the problems that exist from such sites affecting the users PRIVACY, it is only right to have a social network that won’t sell your information, recognize your FACE, make money off your site, and ask for every other piece of information you have to your name. I’m sorry but I don’t feel the need to verify my Facebook account with my PHONE NUMBER, do you? And the new Google+ share circle–NO. Even if you post something intended for just YOU and a FRIEND, you click that little circle and off it goes shared to the worldwide web. Even if it’s set to private! Though you probably know the same goes for facebook.
OnlyMeWorld.com –I love this site. I DID NOT need to use any of my real information to create the account, not even a real email. And an extra bonus is the ability to place Google Adsense Ads on your personal site and actually YOU–yes YOU, the user, gets paid for it! GENIOUS!! That and the geek within me loves the Games, Blogs, Video Chat etc…all in one place…

  2. I personally can’t stand Facebook’s privacy assaults and constantly changing rules and settings. I have a couple of minimal pages for my band and that is is – every info gets referred to my other web sites. I think the comparison of time spent with FB vs Google is misleading – half the time people on FB are just trying to figure out the stupid site – again a total time suck. Google is no comparision -it provides great info on the world and is a real resource -FB is a self absorbed waste of time for high school kids. It will fade.. I hope… or we are all doomed to an increasingly narcissistic self absorbed culture.

  3. I agree that Facebook can be annoying at times with their updates and confirmations, but it is still the easiest and most efficient way to communicate with friends and colleagues who you don’t get to see on a daily basis.
Frankly, I can’t understand how Google expects to win users over from Facebook with their own like button. That’s NOT why people use Facebook. They use Facebook because it allows them to communicate intimately with others while also allowing them to personalize their own privacy settings. Other sites may be able to leech Facebook users away with kitchy ideas or interfaces, but Facebook really hit the mark with user friendliness and optimization. Remember Myspace? Yes it helped kill itself, but it was still a juggernaut and Facebook helped show people that there was a better alternative out there. It slayed that $#¡^!!! Twitter? It had SO much money injected into it with celebrity sponsorship and marketing… that it STILL couldn’t dominate Facebook’s setup!
    Facebook… FACE-BOOooOOK!!! 🙂
