PM Update: Wal-Mart Shuts MP3 Store, Livio Gets $’s, Bandwidth Next Week, Gavin DeGraw Attacked

HypebotFavicon Wal-Mart is shutting down its MP3 store at the end of the month.  While the download store has failed to gain traction, its an unexpected move by the retail giant who has been expanding other digital offerings.  Perhaps they'll partner with a streaming music site. MOG, Rdio or Rhapsody would be top guesses.

  • Western Technology Investment (WTI), a VC for clients like Google and Facebook, has invested in Livio Radio a developer in-car net radio products and services. (RAIN) Angel St Capital is also an investor.

The event is unlike most music conferences – there are no panels, and the sessions are kept small so the industry insiders that attend can interact, network, and learn from each other.  More info before they sell out here.
  • Singer Gavin DeGraw was viciously beaten by a pack of thugs in the East Village early yesterday  and then hit by a taxi, police sources said. He remained in Bellevue Hospital last night. (NY Post)
