VYou Provides Personalized Video Q&A Platform

Screen shot 2011-09-25 at 10.01.27 PM VYou essentially combines the functionality of YouTube, Twitter, and lesser-known FormSpring (where people ask original questions in anticipation of entertaining and/or informative responses). It allows people to broadcast their videos structured as conversations, offering a more personalized form of social interaction.

Users record video responses to messages entered by friends and fans, and then VYou organizes their messages and the responsorial videos into conversations, making the experience feel continuously live even though the content is stored.

Related to music, artists can create video “avatars” of themselves to be displayed during idle moments (when they’re not answering questions). These could be videos images of them just chilling out or doing something a little crazier and more attention grabbing– which is lot more engaging than just a still photo.

At the bottom of the video screen is a place for you to ask your questions, and to the right are questions that fans have already asked (and have answers to) which are categorized by most recent, featured, and most popular. Once clicked on, the artist will respond in a breif, pre-recorded video response.

This seems to be an ideal platform for Q&A for artists because so many important facets of their personality are left out when restricted to just text. Things like their sense of humor, their energy, and other body language cues are simply lost.

VYou can also be embedded and posted anywhere on the web giving you tremendous power and creative control, as well.

Offering a new way to interact with fans, bands can now share brief and personalized video responses that’ll be sure to increase their social engagement meters a few notches. Bands and artists would be wise to jump on this train sooner than later.
