Bjork To ‘Takeover’ eMusic

image from pursuitist.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com This summer eMusic debuted eMusic Radio featuring staff curated streaming music channels. Now Bjork is helping eMusic launch their new Artist Takeover program featuring Bjork's editorial selections in celebration of the release of her Biophilia album

Bjork's new album, Biophilia, caught a lot of attention earlier this year for her decision to release mobile apps for each song. As she now turns to promoting the album in more traditional forms, Bjork is also kicking off eMusic's Artist Takeover program that will feature content curated by a select artist.

Bjork will be choosing albums for daily reviews. An interview focused on the making of Biophilia will be featured as will an interview with Omar Souleyman, an artist chosen by Bjork for special attention. Both interviews will be shared on the US site but the Artist Takeover is currently planned for eMusic UK. Future takeovers will feature music from indie artists and labels.

Madeleine Milne, Managing Director of eMusic Europe, states:

"We're thrilled to announce this programme and our collaboration with Bjork. She pushes the boundaries in merging the latest technology with sounds that span multiple genres, and now eMusic members can get a real insight into what inspires and influences her."

I'm always glad to see human curation of music and related content when it's done well. I think the human element can remain a differentiating factor for web publishers even as algorithms become increasingly useful and sophisticated.
