Apple’s GarageBand Gets Upgrade & iPhone App

Apple's music creation and recording platform GarageBand is now available as an app for the iPhone and iPod touch. The app, along with an iPad version introduced earlier, have been upgraded with new features. GarageBand 1.1 is now available on the App Store for $4.99 to new users or as a free update for existing GarageBand iPad users.

GarageBand features a collection of touch instruments that make it easy for beginners or experienced musicians to play and record keyboards, guitars, drums and basses in a wide variety of styles. In the new version, "Smart Instruments" allow users to choose from an expanded library of custom chords. Plug an electric guitar to play and record through classic amps and stompbox effects, or record voice or sounds using the built-in microphone. GarageBand can record and mix up to eight tracks.
