Exclusive Look Inside Artist Growth Musician Career Management Platform [VIDEO]

image from shorefire.comArtist Growth won't launch until January 17th, but we've got an exclusive look inside this mobile software platform which offers musicians career management tools, task tracking and group project coordination. Created by Nashville based musicians turned entrepreneurs Matt Urmy and Jonathan Sexton, Artist Growth's proprietary technology integrates finances, calendars, inventory, contacts, social media and mentoring resources within a single interface.

Former RCA Records President Joe Galante, echomusic founder Mark Montgomery and Moontoast founder Joe Glaser are among early stage investors in the company.

  1. It’s gonna cost about $6/ for the basic deal, and another buck or two /mo for the add-ons.

  2. “The Music Industry Will Never Be The Same”…. Its seems like a very good idea, but these kind of statements always apply to way to optimistic companies…

  3. Seems link a nice system, but should it be mobile centric? There is only so much data inputting and editing that I want to do on a handheld device. I’ve seen many site that offer a similar service online and if this is going to work then it’s going to have to interlink seemlessly with other online and offline tools that artists use. Nobody wants yet another site where they have to add the next 20 tour dates, upload their music, videos and photos etc..
They will need to have API with all major and secondary sites. So that tour dates and other data is importe seemlessly, the same way MobileRoadie gathers and generates artist info and data within their apps.

  4. Cool idea, and I’m sure it’s going to be effective for a lot of things (i.e. getting listed in newspaper/blog calendars, correspondence with promoters and venues), but there are some things that just can’t be done to their full potential with the artist at the helm. Call me a traditionalist, but there’s a reason why the best publicists are successful. I don’t think you can replace the personal connection they have with hundreds/thousands of writers, editors, and radio music directors.
Furthermore, artists who try to manage themselves rarely have the ability to zoom out, see the big picture, and make effective decisions for their career.

  5. I just wanted to clear up a few questions that were proposed here in the comments. When we launch on January 17, 2012, anyone can sign up for an Artist Growth account at $4.99 a month. Yes, there are add ons available for the user, but $4.99 a month gets you access to everything the platform has to offer. The platform is completely mobile, but not mobile centric. There is a very robust web based portal the user can log into where all their Artist Growth account information will sync with their mobile device in real time. The user can enter any info on the computer they don’t want to input on a touch screen phone, and the online user portal will offer a more detailed data analysis than the mobile version. They are designed to be companions. The tool set is also not designed to “take the place of a human being”. I strongly agree that great publicists and managers are irreplaceable and hard to come by. Artist Growth is a tool than can make those relationships between team members (i.e. artist and publicist, artist and management team) more streamlined and compatible. Our goal is to make the potential success of an “artist at the helm” a much more viable option. With a tool set like Artist Growth, all in one interface, completely integrated, musicians can limit the number of online accounts they have to juggle, I agree that no one wants yet another site to input their information again, but hopefully you will find with Artist Growth, that is not necessary. Let me know if you have any more questions and thanks for taking the time to watch!
