NEWS BRIEF: Spotify Apps First Look, iTunes Heads South, Twitter Ads, VEVO & NMPA Add Execs & More

HypebotFaviconSpotify's addition of apps was yesterday's big news. While a smart move, the lack of both mobile apps and a monetization scheme for developers made the launch a bit less appealing.  Spotify did coral some major partners and I've enjoyed using the beta apps.  Try them yourself here.

  • iTunes is preparing for a broad Latin American launch (Billboard) as rush to take more digital music services international picks up steam.
  • Twitter Quietly (Finally) Launches Self-Serve Ads (AllThingsD) Will they work for music? I'm betting not as well as Facebook.

  • The National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) announced that Allison Halataei will join the organization as VP for Government Affairs. Halataei comes from the Committee on the Judiciary in the U.S. House of Representatives, where she serves as Deputy Chief of Staff.
