Next Big Sound Rebuilds And Updates Music Analytics Platform

NextBigSound_Logo_ColorMusic
analytics startup Next Big Sound has recently unveiled a completely redesigned
and rebuilt data platform
for musicians and their management / marketing teams.
While the service continues to track plays,
views, fans, comments, mentions and other key metrics across major web
properties for musicians, the company says that this new product has been built from
the ground up and is easier to use, faster, and more powerful.

During
the “old days” of the music industry, the metrics surrounding an artist’s
growth and viability were relatively straightforward. Primary data indicators
were easily discerned and made available such as music sales, radio spins, and concert attendance figures.
Throughout the past decade however, the ways that people interact with music
have changed dramatically due in large part to the role the Internet has played
in shifting the way we consume and share our music. Fan interactions with an
artist’s brand and content are now scattered all across the web, making it
difficult to be continually made aware of an artist’s sentiment.

Next
Big Sound looks to make things easier for musicians and their teams by
combining daily social, streaming, sales and event data into dashboards and
reports. Some
of the updates this new version has in store includes:

  • Artist Overview: A bird’s-eye view of what is going on with
any of the artists tracked by Next Big Sound.
  • Actions Bar: Where you can
export, share, or bookmark any report or page
  • Reports Dashboard: Multi-artist
interactive reports allowing you to keep tabs on an entire roster across
    multiple metrics
  • Artist Graphs: Compare
artists and metrics in time-series graphs, while their built-in events allow
you to spot what causes spikes.
  • Data Confidence: All data
reporting issues are accessible in one central place.
  • Email Reports: Receive weekly
email reports that highlight your artist stats.

This new Next Big Sound is available as a free version and includes access to tons
of metrics and graphs, as well as the ability to connect sources such as Google
Analytics and Facebook Insights. For $20 per artist per month, users
can upgrade to unlock additional features like a complete artist overview, a
geo section, and a tracks section.

Next Big Sound joins a number of others who monitor the web
for musicians including Big Champagne, Musicmetric, MusicHype, and Jamplify
each with their own unique approach to gathering fan data and presenting it
back to those who make strategic decisions pursuant to that information.
