Raditaz Renames As CÜR Media, Raises $9.6 Millon For Hybrid Music Streaming Service

CurPersonalized online radio service Raditaz, which went offline in November, has re-branded as CÜR Media and raised $9.6 million with a reverse IPO. The company plans to launch a new service this Fall that it says will combine net radio services like Pandora and on-demand services like Spotify.

CÜR Media is based in Connecticut and led by digital media entrepreneur Tom Brophy and entertainment and music industry vets John A. Lack (MTV, Nickelodeon, ESPN2 and The Movie Channel) and Bob Jamieson (former Chairman/CEO of RCA Records).

It's a crowded space filled with many deep pocketed competitors, and the startup knows it has to be unique to survive. "We are working on something that is different from anything else out there,” CÜR Media CEO Tom Brophy told GigaOm, "(for) people who used Pandora and want something more.”
