Mixcloud and The International Radio Festival Launch Online Radio Awards

Online-radio-awardsWeb radio service Mixcloud and the International Radio Festival, an on-air music radio festival, are partnering to launch the Onine Radio Awards. Nominations opened yesterday and anybody, anywhere in the world can nominate any online radio show or station. Best Stations and Best Shows will be honored with the majority of show categories focused on genres of music.

Mixcloud hosts both dj and talk radio including dj mixes. I spoke with CTO May Clayton when they relaunched the site and he revealed that EDM mixes were their true strength though they were committed to supporting radio across the board.

The International Radio Festival is a unique entity which combines a four day on-air festival representing stations from around the world and a B2B Forum for industry professionals.

Together they created the Mixcloud & IRF Online Radio Awards which are designed to honor the best radio stations and shows from around the world.

Voting is now open through July 29 with a shortlist announced August 1 and winners announced August 12. Winners will be chosen through a mix of public and industry panel voting. Top station and show winners will attend the International Radio Festival in Zurich.

Both a global Best Station and Best Show will be picked. In addition, winners will be chosen in the following categories.

Best Stations:

Best North American station
Best South American station

Best EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) station
Best Asia-Pacific Station
