1While the days of Woodstock and Lilith Fair may be behind us, the U.S. has no shortage of other festivals to offer the modern music fan who may be seeking to indulge their senses with tens of thousands of other like-minded individuals, all for the price of a ticket.


In a recently posted article on MusicThinkTank, Emma Sturgis looks at five of the best music festivals in the U.S., from the EDM extravaganza of Ultra Music Festival, to the renowned showcase for up-and-comers, South By Southwest.

"Unlike other festivals that could exist almost anywhere, SXSW could only work in Austin, TX. Doing its part to keep up the city’s motto of “Keep Austin Weird”, this is the place to watch amazing one-time performances by major artists, like Lady Gaga’s infamous 2014 performance art piece. It’s also the main showcase for up-and-comers in rock and alternative country. See them in March at SXSW, and then enjoy feeling smug when your friends discover them somewhere around the holiday season."
