T.I. Leaves Label System, Signs With Jay Z’s Roc Nation, TIDAL
More and more major artists are leaving major labels and taking control of the recording careers bu going independent. But increasingly their doing it with the help of experienced partners like BMG, Kobalt, Thirty Tigers and more recently Tidal.
After time as both a major label and independent artist, Grammy Award-winning Atlanta-based rapper T.I. (AKA Tip) announced that he's signed on with Jay Z's Roc Nation.
The announcement came during his livestream TIDAL X: TIP show, where T.I. said he had entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Roc Nation for his forthcoming 10th studio album ‘Dime Trap’ to be released on his Grand Hustle Records. The first single, “Money Talk,” produced by C4 and Kip is available now for streaming on TIDAL.
T.I. also announced that he is the 19th artist-owner of TIDAL, joining JAY Z, Beyonce, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Coldplay, Madonna and others in investing in the streaming music service.
T.I. left his previous label home, Columbia Records, in the fall of 2015, and subsequently released an EP Da Nic through his Grand Hustle imprint.
