Snapchat’s User Base Is Getting Much Older
[UPDATED] Once used almost exclusively by teens, Snapchat's audience is now getting much older. According to an analysis by ComScore charted by Statista, people aged 35 and older accounted for nearly 46% of Snapchat’s adult user base in the US at the end of last year, up from 24% the year before.
Snapchat aims for to be something between social media/ tech/ media company. So far, Spiegel’s team reached two of three elements. The last one is especially important because of lucrative advertising budgets possessed still by television. They know that telly audience draws 35+ age demographic that’s why Snapchat invests in exclusive content (sport, comedy, entertainment). And it works, gradually. Interestingly, in terms of reaching maturity, Snapchat case is similar to other social media sites like Facebook. In other words, its users are getting older.
