‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Passes Historic $1B In 11 Days

image from celebrityaccess.comMarvel and Disney’s “Avengers: Infinity War” dominated the box office worldwide over the last few days, adding $275.1 million in its second weekend and shouldering past $1 billion in gross revenue in a record-breaking 11 days.

The latest in a string of superhero flicks, “Avengers” earned $112.5M domestically over the weekend, topping “Black Panther” but was not quite able to dethrone the “Force Awakens” which still clings to the record for the biggest second weekend in North America, with $149.2.

While “Avengers” continued its rampage, other studios were quiet over the weekend, apparently unwilling to challenge the superhero juggernaut with their own tentpole releases, and instead, pushed out several smaller films.

Domestically, MGM and Lionsgate’s remake of “Overboard”, a comedy starring Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez and Anna Faris took the #2 spot domestically, generating $14.8M, while the tautly crafted horror film “A Quiet Place” held on to the #3 spot, adding $7.6M over the weekend to its cumulative haul of $255,294,386 worldwide.

Internationally, the Chinese-produced “Us And Them”, a drama directed by Chinese singer-actress Rene Liu in her directorial debut, earned $27.0M, while “Rampage” starring Dwayne Johnson held on at #3, with $18.3M.
