Here are five small business tips for music industry professionals in 2018.
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes
Everyone starts somewhere. The road to success often comes with many mistakes, but those mistakes lead to lessons learned, so don’t be afraid to experiment and take risks in order to get the experience you need. As Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran says, “Don’t be afraid to fail. It’s proof that you are meant to be a successful entrepreneur. The only difference between people who are hugely successful and those who aren’t is the time it takes them to get back up after getting knocked down.”
This is not the time to be shy! Reach out to successful individuals in your field, attend networking events and collaborate with others in order to gain insight, get your name out there and heighten your chances for success. Make sure to treat all people with respect, because you never know how they might be able to help you down the line.
Have a strong social media presence
The first place people look when they are researching your company will likely be one of your social profiles. Make sure your web presence is up-to-date, helpful and, most importantly, looks good! If your social media isn’t great, chances are you might end up losing a potential client or customer.
Keep good company
Anyone associated with your company should leave a positive impression on any clients or customers they come across. Make sure to hire employees you can rely on, surround yourself with people you can trust and, as always, research any potential opportunities as much as possible to make sure you don’t end up in a sticky situation.
Go for it
It can be scary starting a new company or small business venture, but if it wasn’t scary, it wouldn’t be rewarding. Remember to believe in yourself and give it everything you’ve got, whether you are a new or existing business owner. You got this!
