‘Gangnam Style’ Hitmaker PSY Goes Indie

image from upload.wikimedia.orgPSY, the hitmaker behind “Gangnam Style,” has announced the launch his own entertainment company, P NATION. PSY left YG Entertainment in May of 2018 following eight years with the label, rumors that the 41-year-old might branch out on his own began to surface. Thursday, PSY confirmed the rumors were true in an announcement made via social media.



“I would like to share things that I’ve learned as a PD/manager/director of PSY for 19 years. Allow me to make a playground for passionate players chasing their dreams with sweats!!” He also shared a photo of the company’s official logo.

Reports have suggested that PSY is also in the process of forming his first idol group, and has apparently been conducting auditions at vocal and dance academies to recruit potential trainees.

PSY has been recognized as one of the major contributors to the spread of Hallyu Wave globally. His big break came when he released his sixth album Psy 6 (Six Rules), Part 1 in 2012 and gained worldwide fame for his record-breaking hit song, “Gangnam Style.”

The song’s music video has since exceeded 3.2 billion views on YouTube.
