PledgeMusic Shutdown Continues

PL1The suspension of all music crowdfunding campaigns on PledgeMusic continued Tuesday, six days after they began. The company has been silent since last week, leaving thousands of musicians in the dark and in many cases, owed tens of thousands of dollars in funds pledged by fans.

Attempts to contribute to multiple campaigns on Tuesday morning resulted in a pop-up reading: "Dear Fans, Unfortunately PledgeMusic has suspended pledges on all active campaigns and will look to resume them shortly. Thanks for your patience."

While the startup is known to actively be searching for a cash infusion, no credible rumors of a buyer or white knight have emerged in recent days.

The company's social media accounts have been silent and emails requesting comment unanswered.

  1. This whole thing is hands down the most disgusting abuse of artists since the early days of music.
I’m sure all these big shots have nice cars, homes, and stock portfolios, why don’t they lqiidate their personal pledge stash and pay the artist? And with all the press on this money stealing scheme, why haven’t we seen anyone charged ?

  2. In at least one case its not just Pledgemusic who is at fault. I pledged to a record by an 80s singer who didn’t record anything until at least two years in. Yes, two years. He kept making up suspicious excuses and contradicting himself. He even insulted his fans when they questioned the status. We didn’t get our records until 4 1/2 years later and it was total crap! Like, an embarrassment to vinyl. Pledgemusic did nothing to keep him honest.

  3. Hey Trang
I’ve had some long waits on pledge, some worth it some not. One I chose to get a refund.
Artist being slow has NOTHING to do with what’s going on here. They spent artists money on themselves. This money didn’t belong to them.
You coul have gotten a refund from pledge on your four year disaster.
So, what your point, some 80s guy took 4 years to deliver a record , so it is not all pledge music’s fault that they stole artists money instead of holding it as promised.
    ????

  4. I think this is nothing more than stealing and fraud I was lucky to get one pledge returned by my bank but I still have one outstanding for 61 dollars.

  5. Pledge Music have for months, abused their position, they have known about the problems and yet continued to take money from fans. I personally feel there should be some kind of class action suit and an investigation for fraud and I don’t think the vast majority of people will ever see their money.
