image from assets-global.website-files.comLive music audio startup Mixhalo has raised $10.7 million in Series A funding. The company was co-founded by Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger and his wife, violinist Ann Marie Simpson-Einziger.

The new funding was led by Foundry Group, alongside Sapphire Sport, Founders Fund, Defy Partners, Cowboy Ventures, Red Light Management, Another Planet Entertainment, Rick Farman and Rich Goodstone of Superfly and Charlie Walker of C3. Pharrell Willimas was also an early investor. The startup has raised a total of $15 million to date.

Concert crowdThe Mixhalo app effectively plugs fans into the soundboard for improved sound quality. At a festival, users can listen to different stages "without hoofing around between sets, or tune into a specific instrument or vocal mix from the band."

Charlie Puth, Incubus, Metallica and Aerosmith’s current Las Vegas residency have all deployed Mixhalo.

Here's their pitch.

"Founded by musicians used to the crystal-clear soundboard mix through their in-ear headphone monitors, Mixhalo was created to give that same pure sound to fans. And we wanted to do it right."

    • Own channel: Because venue WiFi is often weak and cell connectivity spotty, we created our own channel.
    • No (additional) lines: With so many crowd control challenges in large groups, we also didn’t want people to have to buy or rent a device to get this experience. Or for our team or customers to have to collect them at an event’s end.
    • "A whole new sound paradigm."
