Ariana Grande Files $10M Forever 21 Lawsuit For Misappropriating Her Likeness

image from i.pinimg.comAriana Grande has hit clothing and fashion retailer Forever 21 with a $10 million lawsuit alleging that the company used her likeness in advertising without seeking Grande’s permission.

According to Reuters, a complaint filed in Federal Court in accuses Forever 21 and Riley Rose, the daughter of the company’s founder, of misappropriating Grande’s name, image, likeness and music, through the use of a model who was “strikingly similar” in appearance to Grande in marketing campaigns on social media earlier this year.

Grande’s complaint accuses Forever 21 of and Riley Rose of misappropriating Grande’s likeness in at least 30 images and videos, including using audio and lyrics from Grande’s recent hit “7 Rings.”

Grande claims that retailer’s use of the model came after negotiations for a joint marketing campaign broke down over a disagreement on endorsement fees, Reuters reported. Through the suit, Grande is seeking more than $10 million in damages, alleging copyright and trademark infringement, false endorsement, and violating her right of publicity.
