Twitter Adds Audio Tweets: Hear Cardi B, John Legend, Liz Phair, Lil Nas X, More

Twitter is adding a new feature that allows users tweet up to 140 seconds of audio.

Among the first to use it were many musicians who instantly saw the variety of ways they could use audio to connect with followers and fans.

Rolling out today in iOS, users just need to open the Tweet composer and tap the new icon with wavelengths. You’ll see your profile photo with the record button at the bottom – tap this to record your voice.

Need more than 140 seconds? Keep talking and a new voice Tweet starts automatically to create a thread. Tap the Done button to end the recording and go back to the composer screen to add text if you want and Tweet.

Liz Phair used the new feature to sing tongue in cheek, “Oh yeah, Twitter didn’t pay me to say this/But I like it very much/ I like it a lot/ I think I’ll use it too much.”

John Legend posted a 35-second preview of the new ballad “U Move, I Move” duet with Jhene Aiko from his upcoming Bigger Love album.

Cardi B giggles and shares “oh my God, what is this” in a silly voice.

And Lil Nas X posted a loop of himself repeating the word penis.
