It Was Always About Money: Scooter Braun Sells Taylor Swift Catalog For $300M

Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings has sold the master rights for Taylor Swift’s first six hit albums to a private investment fund in a deal reportedly worth more than $300 million.

The deal comes just 17 months after Braun acquired the catalog from Big Machine Records.

Swift started with Big Machine and it was her label home until 2018 when she signed with Universal Music Group in a publically acrimonious split that set the internet on fire for weeks.

Swift bitterly added some details on Twitter saying that the private equity firm Shamrock Holdings was behind the new deal and that Braun would continue to receive royalties from her catalog.

Shamrock Holdings is owned by the estate of the late Roy Disney.
