Marni Wandner, VP Marketing Biz Dev At The Syndicate [A2IM Featured Exec]

In this edition of A2IM’s Featured Executive, we hear from Marni Wandner, the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at the independent entertainment marketing agency The Syndicate.

As the VP of Marketing and Business Development at marketing and promotions agency The Syndicate, Marni oversees the department’s campaigns involving social media, digital activations, strategic partnerships, influencer marketing, advertising and more. The Syn’s marketing, radio and publicity client roster includes Guns N’ Roses, Lewis Black, LP, Joe’s Pub, Nation of Language, Y La Bamba, Parquet Courts and many, many more.

Prior to her current position, Marni was the president of digital agency Sneak Attack Media, which she founded in 2006. In 2018, The Syndicate acquired Sneak Attack, bringing digital marketing and social media expertise to the forefront of the company’s marketing efforts.

Her career began in artist management where she cut her teeth working with artists like Tracy Bonham, The Fire Theft (members of Sunny Day Real Estate), Morningwood and Further Seems Forever. She then transitioned into a product manager role at Greenwich Music Group where she ran marketing and publicity for rock and electronic artists like Dieselboy, Sasha & John Digweed and 32 Leaves.

Always drawing on her background in management and label marketing, Marni strives to challenge conventions and design innovative campaigns for clients across the music, entertainment and lifestyle sectors, incorporating new tools and technologies wherever possible. In 2013, she founded the Speakeasy: Music + Tech Mixer, a networking event that she hosted in NY as well as in Austin, TX during SXSW.

Marni has spoken about digital marketing at SXSW, A2IM Indie Week, CMJ, Eurosonic, by:Larm, Music & Media Finland, The Great Escape, Social Media Week, the San Diego Music Thing, Halifax Pop Explosion, Mondo.NYC Music Festival and Tech Summit, PASSPORT Music Export Summit, New York University and Hunter College and at seminars for Export Music Sweden and Women in Music.

In addition to working with clients on their digital strategies, Marni is also a certified holistic health coach, and the co-founder Equilibrium, an initiative that focuses on bringing wellness resources to the music industry. This past year, Equilibrium created Applied Wellness for the Music Industry, a virtual workshop co-hosted with Swedish distributor Record Union.
