Court dismisses $50M Wixen vs Triller lawsuit on a technicality

A federal court in California granted social video app Triller’s request to dismiss a copyright infringement suit brought against it by Wixen Music Publishing, finding that, without any clarification as to when the songs in question were created, it is not clear whether the Copyright Act of 1976 or the Copyright Act of 1909 applies.  [CHN]

Expect the pair to be back in court after Wixen Music lawyers refile adding dates published to the song titles which the music publisher alleges Triller used without the proper licenses.
