Your band’s first gig: How to prepare for your performance

After spending so much time assembling your band and honing your craft, the prospect of playing your first show is certainly exciting, but can also be intimidating. Here, we look at a few things artists can do to help ensure their first performance goes off without a hitch.

In this latest piece on MusicThinkTank, contributor Emma Sturgis shares a few pointers on how green artists can better prepare for their initial performance.

“On the day of the gig, you should be directing all your energy toward the performance. You can make it easier to focus by taking care of other variables ahead of time. Some image-conscious performers get so caught up on choosing the outfit for their gigs that they forget to visualize the performance altogether. You can eliminate this potential issue by setting aside your clothes weeks in advance.”
