SBA SVOG portal set to open today after multiple false starts

The SBA portal designed to take applications for desperately needed Shuttered Venue Operating Grants is finally scheduled to open today (Monday) after multiple false starts.

Four months after it was signed into law, the SBA has not taken any applications for $16.3 billion in SVOG grants leaving most indie venues and agents on the brink of collapse.

SBA SVOG grants are aimed at “operators of live venues, live performing arts organizations, museums and movie theatres, as well as live venue promoters, theatrical producers and talent representatives.”

A little over two weeks ago, the SBA SVOG portal crashed on opening day before taking a single application.

After promising to reopen the portal at Noon last Saturday, the SBA again delayed taking applications until Monday.
