Clubhouse (finally) adds an Android app: reserve your username now!

Clubhouse has added an Android app a year after the hugely successful drop-in audio app launched on iOS.

With Spotify, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Discord, Mark Cuban, and Slack all openly working on Clubhouse competitors, it may be too early for most artists and music marketers to invest heavily in the platform.

But there’s one thing everyone should do today and that’s to grab your username. Even if you only use it to drop in to listen to one of the many music and music industry-related chats, having a username that identifies you as you is a smart move that will only take a few minutes.

You still need an invite to join, but putting out an ask on socials will almost always net a repsonse.

Starting today, Android users can pre-register in the Google Play Store to be notified immediately when the Clubhouse app becomes available to download in their area.

“Our plan over the next few weeks is to collect feedback from the community, fix any issues we see and work to add a few final features like payments and club creation before rolling it out more broadly,” Clubhouse said in a blog post Sunday announcing the launch. “As we head into the summer and continue to scale out the backend, we plan to begin opening up even further, welcoming millions more people in from the iOS waitlist, expanding language support, and adding more accessibility features, so that people worldwide can experience Clubhouse in a way that feels native to them.”
