Multi-platinum Canadian alt-rock band Our Lady Peace sold all of the 500 NFTs offered for its forthcoming album, Spiritual Machines 2. Each unique NFT, guaranteed by the blockchain, sold for $39.99.

OLP was also the first band to deliver NFTs to fans in real time at live events. Using Maida’s, newly launched Drrops app. Fans at their recent USA shows were able to redeem exclusive music, merchandise and live moments based on their Geo located presence at the venues.

“Understanding our fans better and giving them access to exclusive digital and physical goods is yet another powerful way to reward and talk to the fans that pay to come see us live,” the band said in a statement.

Vilvi (Virtually Vinyl) is using vinyl scarcity as it’s marketing hook: “Due to the scarcity inherent in NFTs, we can go back to a world where digital items replace the vinyl records of the old days.”

Elevator Pitch: “Create hybrid physical and digital music twins on Vinyl with NFT. For independent artists, collectors, labels and publishers.

The Vilvi pre-public sale will be available exclusively to the KICK.IO community. The sale starts on January 17, 2022 at 12:00 UTC, and it will end on January 28, 2022 at 12:00 UTC.

• Rapper Nas is selling the rights to two of his songs through Royal, a crypto-based music startup. Both songs are released through Nas’s independent label Mass Appeal. They will be available through Royal on Jan 11th at 1pm / 9pm EST respectively.

Fans will be able to take partial ownership of each of these songs through “limited digital assets” (LDAs). These are ‘extended NFTs’ that are embedded with streaming royalty rights, allowing owners to profit from its use.

Royal announced its partnership with Nas in a blog post on Thursday, marking its debut music drop.

• Range Media and RECUR have partnered to empower Range’s diverse roster of talent including filmmakers, actors, musicians, creators and activists and brand clients direct access to NFT creation via RECUR’s tech that designs and develops on-chain branded experiences and collectibles/

Elevator Pitch: “RECUR is redefining how NFTs are created, distributed, and sold by reimagining the way fans can interact with their favorite artists, brands and communities. The company’s chain-agnostic approach provides interoperability for every NFT and removes boundaries on fandom for major IPs across entertainment, sports and character properties,”
