Is this how you want your $9.99 spent? Video tours of 7 Spotify offices

As the top audio streaming serviice in the world, Spotify is an easy and popular target. There’a lot to hate about Spotify (Joe Rogan. payments to artists and songwriters) along with a lot to love (82 million songs, Spotify For Artists).

So it’s open season when Spotify posts a series of professionally produced video walkthroughs of seven of their global office buildings.

Lavish modern offices in expensive trendy neighborhoods are part of how music and tech companies attract and retain top talent, impress stakeholders and woo advertisers.

But it it does beg the question:

Is this how you want my $9.99 per month Spotify subscription spent?

You be the judge.

  1. I like Spotify. I really do (did), until I saw these “tour our offices” videos.

I almost upchucked my morning coffee while viewing the EXCESSIVE “office spaces”. I could only get through 3 of ’em and I now need some air. And I’m not just saying that because I’m of an older generation.

With musicians (who keep Spotify in business) making virtually nothing to keep Spotify’s platform in business – their offices SCREAM “MONEY TO BURN”. Call me crazy but by the time their employees get from one room to relax, to the next room, to nap, to the next to play foozball – when do they actually WORK? and where is everybody in these videos. Looks like about 1% of the office space is in use.

I’d have a lot more respect for a company that works out of a one room garage but pays the musicians a fair wage (out of respect if nothing else) to keep themselves in business – vs. blowing a shit ton of money to make their offices so flamboyant.

    ‘jus sayin’

  2. The question is.. how is spotify doing against apple music in 2022 ? There have been some rumors that spotify takes pressure to avoid big costs like joe rogan etc.
