Instagram ups ‘links in bio’ to 5, but don’t cancel your Linktree account yet

Instagram has finally upped the number of links in its bio from one to five. In a brief announcement, Mark Zuckerberg called it “one of the most requested features we’ve had.”

But while everyone should take full advantage of the change (instructions below), now is not the time to cancel your subscription to Linktree or other link-in-bio service.

For any musician or label, five links-in-bio is still not enough. Add links to a website, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and tour dates on Bandsintown, and you’ve hit the limit even before adding Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Soundcloud, Deezer, your merch store, and…

Metallica has 35 links on their Linktree landing page, and Selena Gomez has 22.

Then there are all the other social, streaming, and other platforms that restrict the addition of links. TokTok limits link-in-bio to business accounts, for example, and Spotify For Artists only allows links to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Wikipedia.

How to add up o Instagram links in bio

  • tap on “Edit profile”
  • then tap on “Links”
  • next tap on“Add external link.”
  • You can now drag and drop the links in the order you want them to appear
