Banjo Virtuoso Tony Trischka Announces Earl Jam On Tour Dates

As anticipation builds around the release of Earl Jam: A Tribute To Earl Scruggs, Tony Trischka has announced a series of live performances under the banner of Earl Jam On Tour. Audiences will have the opportunity to witness Trischka and his exceptional band bring this remarkable tribute to life on stage.

Renowned banjo maestro Tony Trischka had a surprising encounter during the Covid lockdown when he received a mysterious package in his mail. The package contained a thumb drive filled with rare recordings of his late friend and banjo legend, Earl Scruggs, playing alongside John Hartford. These previously unheard jams were mostly from private gatherings at Earl’s house during the 80s and 90s. Trischka, who had been studying Earl’s technique for over 50 years, was inspired by this treasure trove of musical riches.

Trischka wasted no time assembling a stellar lineup of world-class musicians to bring this newfound material to life in the studio. The album’s liner notes boast names like Stuart Duncan, Ronnie McCoury, Darol Anger, Molly Tuttle, Brittany Haas, Dominick Leslie, and Bronwyn Keith-Hynes. Together, they form a cross-generational, genre-spanning band, making Earl Jam a manifestation of some of the best pickers in today’s music scene.

The eagerly awaited Earl Jam On Tour will kick off on March 22nd at Unity Hall in Barneveld, NY, and will weave through various cities before concluding at the Bourbon & Beyond Festival in Louisville, KY, on September 21st. Throughout the tour, Trischka will grace iconic venues like The Egg in Albany, NY, The Front Porch in Charlottesville, VA, and Red Clay Music Foundry in Duluth, GA. Highlight performances include the Savannah Music Festival in Savannah, GA, as well as appearances at The Guthrie Center in Great Barrington, MA, and Joe’s Pub in New York City.

Fans of Tony Trischka and banjo enthusiasts alike are in for a treat, as these live performances promise to showcase the incredible talent and artistry associated with the Earl Scruggs legacy. With each date on the Earl Jam On Tour, Trischka and his band will captivate audiences with their unrivaled musicianship and a deep reverence for the genre.
