Fifteen years have passed since **[Macy Gray](http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/macygray?ref=hypebot.com)** dropped her debut, “On How Life Is”, and won over audiences on a global scale. From massive crowds at Glastonbury to overhearing her own hit single in a Serbian market, Gray says she’s thankful for fans who’ve grabbed onto tunes like “I Try” and didn’t let go. This year, she’s giving fans a new gift through a **Deluxe Edition of her album “The Way”, which includes several new songs, along with even more exciting plans in the pipeline.**

**Over 15 years have come and gone since “On How Life Is” debuted. Did you have a vision for such longevity when you were first starting out?**

I am so grateful to my fans for supporting me and my music from the very beginning. I had no idea that my music would have such a big impact on people all over the world. Everyday, I thank my fans. I’m so glad I went into music, because what I really wanted to be was a stripper, but that didn’t work out. So here I am, still making music for all of you.

**From the beginning, your music received a strong response on a global scale. Do you have a favorite moment of your music reaching places that you never expected?**

It was the first time I played Glastonbury, and I had never played for that many people before. There were over 150,000 people in the audience, and when I sang “I Try”, every single person knew the words. I will always remember that moment, along with eating at a random little market in Serbia and “I Try” came on outta nowhere from the speakers. That was great, too.

**What’s behind the vision for a deluxe version of “The Way?”**

I love my fans so much and wanted to give something back to them for supporting my music. We’ve been writing like crazy and we’re doing this just for the fans. I love them like crazy.

**Where did [PledgeMusic](http://www.pledgemusic.com/?ref=hypebot.com) enter the picture for you?**

I think crowdfunding is one of the most genius things the internet has come up with. I love PledgeMusic because it’s all about the music. It’s a great way to connect with your fans, get them involved and a great way to actually meet them.

**Beyond the new album, do you have a solid grasp on any other musical plans in 2015?**

I would love to do a symphony album this year and I am writing a musical. Other than that, I’m touring all over the world in 2015\. I just got back from Toyko and I leave for Europe in a few weeks.
