### What is Snapchat?

**[Snapchat](https://www.snapchat.com/?ref=hypebot.com)** is a multimedia messaging app that launched in 2011\. It allows users to send photos and videos, known as “Snaps,” which can disappear after being viewed.

Snapchat is known for unique features, including Stories, which let users compile Snaps into a chronological sequence that lasts for 24 hours, and various filters and augmented reality lenses that enhance user engagement.

As of the third quarter of 2024, Snapchat had **443 million daily active users** worldwide. The app has seen steady increases in daily active users since the beginning of 2019.
