# Moby Revives Free Music Site For Film and Video Makers

Moby launched a site called mobygratis.com 4 years ago to make selections of his music available to filmmakers. This week he relaunched the site with 150 selections that are free for noncommercial productions. Commercial films can include the music for a licensing fee with all the money going to the Humane Society.

[mobygratis.com](http://www.mobygratis.com/?ref=hypebot.com) is a surprising and unique project created by Moby to make his work more readily available to film and video makers. As he notes in the below video, one simply applies and will hear back within 24 hours. He states that no one's been turned down to date.

It's an interesting decision, one very few artists at his level of the game would ever make, especially given that commercial licensing fees will all go to the [Humane Society](http://humanesociety.org/?ref=hypebot.com).

Clearly he's interested in both seeing his work used in new ways and, in the process, generating funds for a cause about which he cares deeply. Given that there's also a staff to provide [support](http://support.mobygratis.com/mobygratis?ref=hypebot.com) and keep the site updated, he is likely to be funding that out of pocket.

Additional work is going to maintain related social media outlets on [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/mobygratis), [Twitter](https://twitter.com/mobygratis?ref=hypebot.com), [YouTube](http://www.youtube.com/user/MobyGratis?ref=hypebot.com), [Vimeo](http://vimeo.com/groups/mobygratis?ref=hypebot.com) and [Google+](https://plus.google.com/110180757315070811447/posts?ref=hypebot.com).

The [catalog](http://www.mobygratis.com/catalog?ref=hypebot.com) of music includes selections from "Play" to his latest album.

[Videos](http://www.mobygratis.com/videos?ref=hypebot.com) are being posted to the site, some with peculiar tags that are used for browsing, and there are likely many more to follow.
