# Music Marketing on Google+?!?  Resistance is Futile!

I'm trying to get used to **Google+** because I consider it an inevitable part of my future. In fact, Google+ will eventually have to be a part of most music marketing schemes and the platform's significance for content sharing will be key to such endeavors. Since business accounts may not be available for a couple more months, now is the time to score an individual account and get a basic sense of the platform.

**Daria Musk's Google+ Hangout Concert Map (Tier 10 Marketing)**

Last week, [Google+](https://plus.google.com/?ref=hypebot.com) caught a lot of businesses by surprise by [deleting their branded accounts](https://plus.google.com/113217924531763968801/posts/f3nwJAJqs9d?ref=hypebot.com). It looks like they're holding firm on that approach and only individual accounts are currently available. Business accounts should be coming in a couple of months so [hold off on that band account](https://www.hypebot.com/warning-do-not-start-a-google-account-for-your-band-label-studio-or-store-heres-why/).

But it's definitely worthwhile getting a handle on Google+ now, both for [individual branding](https://www.hypebot.com/band-members-need-to-build-personal-brands/) and for getting a feel for [circles and content sharing](http://www.copyblogger.com/google-plus-content-marketing/?ref=hypebot.com). Yay, segmentation!

Marketing Professor has a [nice intro for newbies](http://www.marketingprofessor.com/social-marketing/40-google-plus-tips-for-newbies/?ref=hypebot.com) but be sure to take the opportunity to look at the bigger picture which indicates Google+'s potential as a "[wonderful real-time content-sharing and discovery engine](http://adage.com/article/digitalnext/surprising-content-future-google/228677/?ref=hypebot.com)". **[Circles](http://www.google.com/support/+/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=guide.cs&guide=1257347&rd=1&ref=hypebot.com)** will be an important driver of that engine.

Some musicians are already exploiting the live video **[Hangouts](http://www.google.com/support/+/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=guide.cs&guide=1257349&rd=1&ref=hypebot.com)** feature. Daria Musk has received some business and tech media coverage for her [first concert event](http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/young-female-artist-uses-google-to-connect-with-fans-all-over-the-world-with-a-live-virtual-concert-126005438.html?ref=hypebot.com) on Hangout that lasted for 6.5 hours.

**[Huddle](http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1304763&ref=hypebot.com)** is another feature worth noting that offers a form of group text messaging. Such services also offer an alternative entry point for mobile marketing.

So study up on **Circles**, **Hangouts** and **Huddle** and don't forget to add the [Google+ Button](http://www.google.com/webmasters/+1/button/?ref=hypebot.com) to your blog or website, especially next to sharable content!
