Christmas is a particularly dramatic driver of **gift giving** and **music merch** that takes advantage of that massive wave is always a great thing to have. From deluxe editions put out by **Soundgarden and Led Zeppelin** to random impulse gifts like coasters with Instagram pics to **2PM**'s clothing with digital download codes, fans appreciate having choices. If you can't put something together this year, keep an eye open for creative ideas to use next time around.

**Soundgarden and Led Zeppelin: Deluxe Editions**

Two big acts put out Christmas gift bait. Soundgarden's presale for King Animal (see above thumbnail) [included 5 lithographs](http://topspinmedia.tumblr.com/post/35643849706/artist-of-the-day-soundgarden-and-king-animal?ref=hypebot.com) in one of the deluxe bundles. [Vinyl](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B009LDMJGA/hypebot-20?ref=hypebot.com) is also an option.

Led Zeppelin tops the rock offerings at Amazon with the [Deluxe Edition of Celebration Day](http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B009E3EY38/hypebot-20?ref=hypebot.com) (shown below) featuring a variety of options for audio and video including vinyl.

**Coastermatik: Random Gifting**

There's a certain randomness to gift giving during big events that offering items such as [coasters printed with Instagram photos](http://coastermatic.com/?ref=hypebot.com) becomes a surprisingly rational move. If you've got a following on Instagram then offering items with photos could be just the thing. Unfortunately Coastermatic seems focused on direct sales but there are many options for turning pictures into merch.

**2PM: Clothing and Digital Downloads**

Kpop group 2PM are combining [clothing with digital music downloads](http://www.soundctrl.com/blog/2012/11/14/2pm-merging-music-with-musician-merch/?ref=hypebot.com) using QR code via their [web store](http://www.jypstore.com/?ref=hypebot.com) not unlike [R-Evolution Tees](https://www.hypebot.com/kickstarter-downloadable-album-tee-combines-shirt-music/).

The combination of clothing and music downloads is a potentially strong offering both as gifts and as merch bundles for fans. In addition, digital download cards as a free holiday giveaway can be a nice way of gifting fans. Check back next week for a roundup of digital download card options.

**Bonus: Send Christmas Cards to Hardcore Fans**

DittoMusic suggests [sending Christmas cards to a shortlist of superfans and key industry contacts](http://www.dittomusic.com/dittomusic/BlogPost.aspx?310&title=Why-Christmas-Cards-are-a-Present-for-Indie-Artists&ref=hypebot.com). I'd suggest a more encompassing Seasons Greetings of some sort given the plethora of celebrations during that time of year. Happy New Years is also a safe bet and a nice thought.
