(UPDATED) New York startup Stereotype.fm is shutting down after just 18 months. Last February, the company launched a music messaging app, letting users send music as a message, reminder, gift or hug. Stereotypes had received $230,00 in Angel funding in the laast 18 months.

"For 18 months, Stereotypes has given people different ways to communicate using music," the two founders Jason Keck and Eric Bogs wrote on [the site](http://stereotypes.fm/?ref=hypebot.com). "…As of today, the Stereotypes journey has come to an end, and my partner in crime, Eric Bogs, and I would like to thank everyone for being a part of the journey with us. "\\
