- The Creative Class **[blog](http://www.creativeclass.com/creative%5Fclass/2009/06/11/music-a-fruit-fly-industry/?ref=hypebot.com).**
- Flatteringly, Richard Florida has re-posted all three parts of Hypebot's Music & The Creative Class series on his [blog](http://www.creativeclass.com/creative%5Fclass/2009/06/11/music-a-fruit-fly-industry/?ref=hypebot.com). (Thank-you!) The comments are [worth reading](http://www.creativeclass.com/creative%5Fclass/2009/06/11/music-a-fruit-fly-industry/?ref=hypebot.com), as well.
- **Music & the Entertainment Economy** – A new project by Richard Florida and The Martin Prosperity Institute of The Rothman School Of Management at the University Of Toronto. Here is how they describe the project:

"While much attention is paid to high-tech industries, we believe the study of entertainment industries also provides insight into what make the idea-driven creative economy tick. This project includes an effort to develop data and research on the organization and geography of the music business in the 20th and 21st centuries. The end result will be a scholarly examination of the economic, geographic, and social history of popular music."

- Several **fascinating papers** are already posted including "**[That’s Entertainment: Scale and Scope Economies in the Location and Clustering of the Entertainment Economy](http://www.martinprosperity.org/research-and-publications/publication/thats-entertainment-scale-and-scope-economies-in-the-location-and-clustering-of-the-entertainment-economy?ref=hypebot.com)".**

- **[BBC Interview](http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/news/inbusiness/inbusiness%5F20090104.shtml?ref=hypebot.com):** Richard Florida says the seeds of Detroit’s rebirth lie in
understanding how it has generated great musicians like Stevie Wonder
and the MC5 (at 11 minutes) and talks about what innovative start-ups
can learn from innovative bands (at 20 minutes).
