Last.fm have researched the last 16 years of music awards and festivals to find out if we are crediting female artists as much as we are listening to them. As each year comes and goes, the elephant in the room for the music industry is whether the popularity of female solo artists is mirrored in their inclusion in both; festivals and award ceremonies. Last.fm have compiled all its listening data and found a relatively narrow split between genders, but the story isn’t the same for those topping the bill and taking home the trophies.
