****Pinterest uses the digital pinboard as the organizing concept for a content and discussion-focused social network that is wildly successful with over 11 million total visits in one recent week. At first glance the homepage reminds me of the nicer women's mags I see in the grocery store checkout line. That may help you identify a demographic match for a lifestyle site that seems to be missing music.**

Like any social network, [Pinterest](http://pinterest.com/?ref=hypebot.com) may or may not be a good fit for your act. It's a [highly active network](http://weblogs.hitwise.com/heather-dougherty/2011/12/pinteresting%5Ftrend%5Fin%5Fsocial%5Fm.html?ref=hypebot.com) identified as one of the "top 10 websites within the Hitwise Social Networking & Forums category" with:

"visitors to the site in the 12 rolling weeks ending December 17th skewed female (58%) and between the ages of 25 and 44 (59%). Pinterest and the Social Networking & Forums category both receive their highest share of visits from California and Texas."

Eli Goodman also [argues](http://blog.comscore.com/2011/12/online%5Fpinboards%5Ffacebook.html?ref=hypebot.com) for interest in the Midwest. All of which indicates a different demographic swath than that of Facebook or YouTube.

Pinterest includes such Tumblr-esque notes as repinning that allows for content sharing within the network.

What I'm not seeing, unlike most social networks, is the presence of music as a draw for participants. That's a huge missing piece of the Pinterest puzzle and a powerful opportunity for musicians whose audience fits the demographic or who feel they can reach such a demographic.
