# Preamp.fm Combines Concert Listings and YouTube

The recent launch of Preamp.fm attests to the power of a simple idea that's presented well. Combining limited band listings and YouTube videos, Preamp.fm is an event guide and discovery tool that removes the chore-like aspects of the task. Sketched out at a hackathon earlier this year, Preamp.fm is a good example of a weekend hack that could become something more.

[Charles Worthington](https://twitter.com/cew821?ref=hypebot.com) is the creator of Preamp.fm which includes design contributions from [Friendly Design Co.](http://www.friendlydesign.co/?ref=hypebot.com)

The [site](http://preamp.fm/?ref=hypebot.com) looks great with the limited number of listings for LA, New York, San Francisco and Washington, DC making it easy to navigate. I'm a bit surprised they're not taking better advantage of responsive design but I was happier with the mobile web performance than was [Hamish McKenzie](http://pandodaily.com/2013/06/28/not-hipster-enough-to-know-the-bands-at-your-local-dive-preamp-might-help/?ref=hypebot.com).

Preamp.fm is seeking to partner with venues on listings. The events I checked out used [Ticketfly](http://www.ticketfly.com/?ref=hypebot.com) to provide tickets.

Curated events and audio/video are a natural fit in the music space with recent examples covered at Hypebot including [Beatguide](https://www.hypebot.com/beatguide-combine-club-and-concert-calendar-listings-with-streaming-music-1/) and [Jukely](https://www.hypebot.com/iterating-an-app-for-live-show-discovery-team-jukely-joins-the-techstars-nyc-incubator/).

Preamp.fm is responding to the need to scale hand curated guides by "[assembling](http://preamp.fm/pages/about?ref=hypebot.com)" a "global crew of local music experts to help fans discover live music in their city."
